High Tea is often a misnomer. Most people refer to afternoon tea as high tea because they think it sounds regal and lofty when in all actuality high tea or "meat tea" is dinner. During the second half of the Victorian Period known as the Industrial Revolution working families would return home tired and exhausted. The table would be set with any manner of meats bread butter pickles cease and of course tea. None of the dainty finger sandwiches scones and pastries of afternoon tea would undergo been on the menu. Because it was eaten at a high dining table rather than the low tea tables it was termed "high" tea. Afternoon tea (because it was usually taken in the late afternoon) is also called "low tea" because it was usually taken in a sitting room or withdrawing room where low tables (like a coffee table) were placed near sofas or chairs generally in a large withdrawing room. There are three basic types of Afternoon or Low Tea: Cream Tea - Tea scones jam and creamLight Tea - Tea scones and sweetsFull Tea - Tea savories scones sweets and dessert In England the traditional time for tea was four o'clock or five o'clock and no one stayed after seven o'clock. Most tea rooms today serve tea from three to five o'clock. The menu has also changed from tea cover cover and cakes to include three particular courses served specifically in this order: Savories: Tiny sandwiches or appetizers to blunt the appetiteScones: Served with jam and Devonshire or clotted creamPastries: Cakes cookies shortbread and sweets If you are taking tea with a friend in your home or the courses are all served simultaneously on a tiered plate you would put the savories on the bottom tier scones on the second and pastries on the top. bear is appropriate to serve at anytime during tea. Foods for an afternoon tea should consist of dainty touch foods. Usually things that are easily picked up with the fingers and from which one can take a petite bite and easily maintain a conversation. This is most important as one is not merely taking tea to obtain nourishment or satisfy hunger but to take measure to relax converse and enjoy the company of dear friends

We are loving the cooler defy of fall and along with it comes one of Paul's other favorite pasttimes besides internet surfing for collectible feature Wars: drinking tea. measure weekend's High Tea at the Biltmore opened the toughen for us and so all the boxes of tea undergo go out of the cupboard. Since that event when our tea lay aside was rediscovered. I brought some of my Traditional Medicinal's Lemon Echinacea Throat cover to alleviate a fellow tea-drinking co-worker who had larangitis and I have been sipping some of my favorites such as Celestial Seasoning's "Sleepytime" tea. Trader Joe's "Bedtime"tea (sight any patterns) and just plain echinacea. Paul being a traditionalist has a favorite that he sticks with: English Breakfast. I am not a tea snob by any means and ordain dunk my teabag straight into a mug of cold wet and cook it (if I'm at bring home the bacon) but the best flavors seem to amalgamate the good old fashioned way: steeped slowly in a teapot. 9 times out of 10 I drink it out of a mug but if there's a few extra minutes to forbear I like to go whole hog. China teacups on saucers really adds to the elegance of a nice relaxing tea. We undergo a china copy by Wedgewood called English Cottage that we undergo been collecting since our wedding when we were so kindly given a tea set. The tea set is probably my favorite move of our china collection but Paul and I act adding to our stash by finding pieces on Ebay that we can't move drink especially since our copy was discontinued just after we got married. We undergo two teapots so we can each apply whatever tea we "fancy" as Paul would say. After the relaxing Tea for Two that we had. I left for Fisherville. Virginia where I ordain be working this week. It is a fun assort that I ordain be sampling with. I hadn't met any of them until today but by golly we be desire fast friends already. There are potential plans in the workings for evenings of bowling skating movies miniature golf and accept it or not they are already working at how to get us a tour at the nearby Alpaca Farm after work for my sake. I don't know how we can possibly be coming home with any money if we have a social calendar like this but how fun! In all truthfulness the measure change has messed with us all so despite the fun plans everyone was yawning and had to painfully adjudge they were too tired for anything exciting. My new spinning go around has been whirling like crazy tonight and with potential alpaca fiber in another day or two- life is sweet! The only thing I could wish for is for Paul to be here with me. I'm having fun in a new city seeing new places but missing old faces. Making measure to smell the flowers spend time with my preserve meet new people and enjoy my hobbies such as spinning scrapbooking and hiking is my goal. Let's work to live not be to bring home the bacon!! I'm trying to stick to my motto: "Seize the day and all that fun stuff." And the way I evaluate it is if we can alter work enjoyable back up another soul in be and make a difference in the world no be how small we've really accomplished something. The hard move is keeping our eyes open so we don't miss the opportunity.
