The Teacup Chihuahua is not an official cause -- rather it is what breeders call particularly small Chihuahuas like some breeders call the little larger Chihuahua’s a “Toy Chihuahua” and the more larger Chihuahua which some call the Standard size Chihuahua. I truly believe in the long run that most people are handing out these different names to the different size Chihuahua dogs to just back up classify them. As we all have our preferences in the long run I don’t think this is really a bad thing. But I do wish we all could get on the same page as far as size meanings. The name Teacup Chihuahua was given to the tinier size Chihuahua as some say as a marketing strategy to make the Chihuahua stand out more and create a exceed identity for the smaller dogs and some say they are given more value. The label teacup has become popular lately however that people anticipate that it is a breed of its own but its not. One of the reasons why it's change state so popular now is because many celebrities have been getting their own Teacup Chihuahuas for pets and the public is seeing these cute little dogs on TV and in magazines tucked under an arm of a known celebrity or in a pocket purse being carried by one. Some Teacup Chihuahuas are extremely small. As Chihuahua’s are small and have very little fat under their skin which makes it more difficult for them to act warm during cold seasons. They are also fragile in a few areas on their body one is around the neck area so if owners want to take them out for a walk it is better to use a Chihuahua size harness rather than a collar which could easily breathe them. Also most Teacup’s legs are very fragile the smaller coat teacup Chihuahua has very tiny legs almost the size as a chicken drumstick which could end easy if dropped the wrong way by a child or if it jumped down off of a chair. It’s important to supervise your Chihuahua as much as you can. Please Note: The Super Small Ultra Tiny Teacup puppies or Chihuahuas born with the dwarfing gene are extremely small 2-lbs and under those should not be sold to just anybody!
