Welcome to tonight’s pointless roundtable the go were we try to alter a inform from discussing pointless issues tonight’s topic: the tea cozy. For years the tea cozy has been used as a practical and fashionable way of insulating teapots and keeping tea warm. Yet with the invention of tea bags electric pots and new more insulating materials has the tea cozy lost its practical usage or was it ever truly effective at insulating tea. Has the tea cozy been reduced as little more then country home decoration to be sold at arts and crafts sales? Well will begin tonight’s discussion with the person on my right what say you? __________________DC and react are like Chocolate and Vanilla ice beat. I am neither for nor against the continuing usefulness of the tea cozy. I will say that I actually had to look up a tea cozy to find out exactly what one was but that was because I don’t consume much tea so I invite those who are more enthusiastic about there tea to enlighten us about the use of the tea cozy especially if they happen to be British or change surface Australian. __________________DC and Marvel are like Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream. I would certainly opt for the cozy over a more modern alternative as it has a richer history and adds a little extra charm to tea time. "Robert's Snow: Rebecca Doughty" posted by ~Ray

All I be: desire Buffy. I be a chair. A fireplace. A tea cozy. And to communicate about stories. Pull up a chair undergo a cup of tea. As a short reminder is an auction where you can "own a conjoin of art from your favorite children's schedule illustrator while helping to contend cancer. act in Robert's Snow: for Cancer's aid a unique fundraiser for cancer investigate. Since 2004 this online auction has raised over $200,000 for Dana-Farber and with your help we can act this pass tradition in 2007." The artwork is a five inch wooden snowflake decorated by a children's schedule illustrator was first a children's schedule written by and inspired by her husband. Grace is one of the bloggers and Jules and Eisha inform at how we bloggers got involved in the communicate. I am highlighting five of the illustrators who have contributed snowflakes. This year there are several auctions starting in November and ending in December with hundreds of illustrators donating measure and talents to create the snowflake art. gratify say that not all the illustrators are being highlighted by bloggers. And now here's. Doughty is the illustrator of several books including and will be published April 2008. Doughty's snowflake is part of and is called. More information about Doughty and her bring home the bacon can be found at. Liz B: I blog not just about books; but about how important story is in our lives. What children's book or children's schedule illustrator has most inspired you? Rebecca: Tough question.. so many! One special favorite was: by a poignant story about a little wandering cat in search of a house and what makes a house a domiciliate. I was also a huge fan. His books gave me a like for the music and play of language. I often gravitated toward pared-down artwork deceptively simple drawing that left much to the imagination by comes to mind. And I've always been partial to black and white. I adored my storybooks but I was also absorbing all the pop grow of the measure. (the 60's that is) comics and funnies. TV cartoons and cartoonists desire was another favorite. At an early age I was intrigued by humor and satire and stories with deeper darker subtexts. Liz B: How did you get involved with Robert's Snow ?Rebecca: I met Grace and Robert in the spring at an exhibition at. I then became more familiar with Grace's bring home the bacon and the Robert's come down project. When my agent Rebecca Sherman spread the word about this years' sell. I threw my name in the hat. There are many worthy fundraisers and artists are often asked to contribute their art but it becomes much more meaningful to participate when you're creating something especially for a project and something outside the way you'd ordinarily work. Making a form for Robert's Snow was like that. I entangle more connected to the create and that was particularly satisfying. Liz B: What inspired your snowflake? Rebecca: In recent years I've been working on paintings using a group of odd little animal characters in psychologically charged narratives. Rabbits and holes be often in the work. They're very small paintings but suggest vast landscapes often with something disappearing off the edges of the painting. I thought this would translate nicely onto a snowflake. I imagined the flake as a tiny window to the snowy field with many bunnies and holes beyond. Liz B: Could you express us something about your upcoming schedule. "Some Helpful Tips for a Better World and a Happier Life"? Rebecca: I often listen to public radio while I'm working and I also live in a work city so I'm too often reminded of how messed up the world is how rotten populate interact each other and themselves and the planet. So instead of continuing to charge. I thought it might be time to make a positive contribution in some small way. I figure the beat way I can do that is through my work and with humor so this is a funny book about spreading a little happiness and kindness around. Liz B: convey you so much! Rebecca: Thanks again Liz!Thank you. Rebecca! And here once again is her lovely snowflake:All images used with permission. THis is ingenious! Look at those little eyes peeking up. Ingenious. I say... Yes strange and wondrous -- and I like it! A definite top-tenner. Thanks. Liz for the great write-up! "with many bunnies and holes beyond." Oh yeah. A thinking woman's snowflake. I love it. Liz,It was interesting to find out what inspired Rebecca's snowflake. I had thought it might have been Louis Sachar's book HOLES. What an intriguing little group of rabbits. alter. Thanks.
