"Turkish TV, Tea and Coffee" posted by ~Ray

Today I did a 9 minute Internet safety divide on EBRU TV a Turkish owned and operated satillite TV station in Somerset. It was a trip! Merideth Parker the host of Daily Connections was furnish inquisitive friendly and charming. When the converse airs it ordain be available on the web. I'll write a little bit about it in my and post a cerebrate here to the program when it airs on the web in about 2 weeks. For this affix. I want to express you about my experiences at the displace. As Educational Technology Director for WiredSafety. I get a pay check of $0.00 for the charity bring home the bacon that I do but I do get the alter call and a few perks one of which is appearing on TV shows. I've been on all of the study stations but I always apply visiting smaller stations. This company is a relatively new air go away up. They've been broadcasting for about a year and have their studios in Somerset. NJ. When I walked into the offices there were no security guards sign in sheets or bureaucracy. It was refreshingly unlike the major stations which understandably undergo such procedures. Oscar greeted me and directed me and another guest to the "color room" and pointed us to the cafeteria where we could have coffee tea cookies and other goodies. It was there that I open another distinct departure from the study studios. In the coffee dwell there was a considerably more emphasis on tea. There was a large tea making unit on the top of which sat carafes of Turkish tea. Below it was a hot water pour for diluting the concentrated tea. I probably should have asked what proportions are best but I didn't and for my first cup of Turkish tea and used about 1/4 wet. In remember. I probably should have gone about 50-50. The resulting tea was about the color of my usual morning coffee. I figure it will be 2-3 days before I get any rest. LOLThe show is taped in unedited 9 minute segments in a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are followed by a cooking divide done by Arzu. In yesterday's segments she showed viewers how to alter Turkish coffee and baklavah. The crew and guests get to chow down on her cooking between shooting segments. They offered me the coffee but considering I was already walking about 2 inches off the ground. I passed and just had some of the heavenly baklavah. Between the tea and the coffee I experience what puts the go around in the Dervishes. Add to that Arzu's cooking and might also inform why everyone in the studio was so chipper but I really think it was just a very friendly bring home the bacon atmosphere and genuinely nice people. "Coffee and Tea" posted by ~Ray

I've heard that coffee and tea are not too good for you but I drink atleast 2 cups of coffee and between 3 to 4 cups of tea a day. I experience that wet is supposed to be good but I don't desire drinking it because I find it tasteless. I've cut drink on drinking sodas and try not to drink juices as well because of the sugar circumscribe. I've also cut out sugar with my tea and coffee. How do I give up/cut down drinking C & T and is it really bad for you? Tea isn't very bad for you from what I've read. Coffee isn't really 'bad' but it is a heavily sprayed crop and can undergo some harmful toxins. My suggestion for you is drink something like crystal light or gatorade. Crystal lighten is wet with flavor. But I know how addicting coffee and tea are. I drink them everyday as well haha. Well I hope that helped you in any way. Depends on who you read. There are articles that affirm that coffee and tea contain antioxidants and are good for you. I evaluate that you can probably consume too much of almost anything. I wouldn't mind about a few mugs of coffee or tea a day though. Personally I evaluate that tea and coffee are probably healthier than Gatorade or Crystal Light. Gatorade contains high fructose feed syrup and Crystal Light contains Aspritame or Nutrasweet. I forbid artificial sweeteners. whats probably bad 4 you is the caffine try drinkin favored wet, displace, and cristal lighten instead of gatorade because its heathier but it shouldnt be talkin I drink coffee sometimes tea a lot and gatorade daily maybe I should act my own advice lol...

Not the annoying flying insects the not at all annoying national othello championship. Sorry I didn't post anything yesterday but Geoff and Michael were staying over and I comfort don't like blogging when someone's watching me. I don't know why seeing as I'm aware that populate are going construe what I'm writing anyway. Still. I'm not sure I was a ameliorate entertain as shown by the following conversation when Michael asked for black coffee:Me: Oh there isn't any. I normally act some in the accommodate for guests but I took it down to the community centre so we'd have something to drink at the tournament and it's still there. ingeminate milk sugar and tea. Michael: What is there to drink then?Me: Water. Michael: book. (going to the change posture)Me: Oh also the cold tap doesn't bring home the bacon. Well. I never claimed this was the Ritz. Anyway the competition all went fine - I had been worried that the venue a cheap and somewhat shabby but extremely nice community displace not too far from the city displace would have cancelled my booking change surface though I called on Friday to confirm that it was still happening or would otherwise take exception to us but no it was all authorise. I must be a great organiser after all. We had the AGM before the championship started which was as exciting as usual. Graham filled in as head while Aubrey's busy in America promoting his new book (just for a change - I think this is the fifth year in a row that we've called on Graham's services as official Acting Something-Or-Other). By the time the competition was ready to start we had a whopping 18 competitors. This forced me to cycle home and get another board but we didn't start too late - luckily really since we only had the room till six before we had to make way for a live 'guitar vocalist'. Among the 18 just for maximum confusion determine were two Davids two Jeremys two Roberts and two Ians (well one Ian and one Iain but that's not a big help when you're reading out names). I evaluate some othello players be to splash out on a name change to something more exotic and unique like Imre or Aubrey. I lost to Imre in go one disappointingly enough - three wins in a row against him would have been something to really boast about - but made up for it with a really alter win against Michael in the third round. I've never done that before. Now I just need to bring home the bacon out how to beat Graham some measure. Geoff's got the knack of that - he beat Graham in go two while Iain defeat Imre. That pretty much set the standard for the tournament as a whole - it really wasn't one of those championships where the highest-rated players defeat everyone below them on the rating enumerate there were upsets and surprises all over the place. Iain drew with David Hand in go three so at the end of the first day David Beck was on his own at the top of the delay with three wins. We went to a Thai restaurant in the evening it being the first place we could sight that wasn't full up. Actually it was nearly alter when we all piled in. The food was good though but the service wasn't what you would label exceptional. A surprisingly extensive discussion about coca-cola led to Jeremy Dyer learning that they do in fact still make cans of cherry coke and my revelation that in Bahrain the coke cans still have old-fashioned ringpulls. Today. I didn't manage to go up that win over Michael with any more impressive results unless you ascertain winning on time against Ian when I was well and truly dead on the board. Graham also beat me 63-1 just to inform me not to get too cocky. Elsewhere. David Hand rather impressively made it two draws in a row with his first bet of the day against David Beck who then defeat Graham but lost to Iain who took the lead after five rounds but then lost to Imre and Graham. Geoff and Jeremy Das. Geoff was in contention for the bring about all the way through as were both Davids and Michael. It was anyone's anticipate who would end up in the final but normality reasserted itself at the measure and it ended up being Graham versus Imre for about the 73rd measure. Imre won for the (genuinely) ninth time. Congratulations to him!We had lunch in the Dunkirk Tavern down the road from the venue. Their food selection turned out to be rather less extensive than I'd assumed it would be from the sign outside promising inexpensive Sunday roasts - it didn't add "and no other kinds of food" - but it was very nice. All in all the whole thing went really come up and a fun time was had by all! So I needn't have worried about it all going do by and me getting the blame.

"Quality Hotel? I don?t think so." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 19:09:22

Just back from an overnight meeting of the Information and Communication Board where a group of geeks or wannabe geeks get together to address how best to communicate within our perform. At the measure meeting some bright initiate suggested we hold this residential at a nice hotel rather than the usual churchy retreaty places we normally use. His reckoning was that nice pleasant surroundings would be more conducive to the creative process. We agreed. So yesterday we arrived at the Quality Hotel in Perth. That’s the QUALITY HOTEL in Perth beside the displace if you are in any doubt and move of Choice Hotels Europe with 3 stars allegedly. Now they say ‘Quality’ but I think after  24 hours of the worst service I have ever encountered in a hotel it ought to be called ‘Fawlty Towers’ or simply the Worst Hotel ever. 1. Arrive at 9.45am for a 10.30am start and try to book in. Told our rooms will not be available until 2.30pm. This had not been communicated with us. Receptionist is uninterested. 2. Find conference dwell is dirty falking paint peeling paper used turn map dirty delay cloth stained chairs filthy windows curtains not hung properly stained tea and coffee signs. We charge and ask for it to be hoovered. Receptionist is uninterested. A young lad comes to ‘undergo a be’ and replaces one tablecloth. He never returns. 3. Coffee does not arrive at 10.30am as ordered. We have to chase it up. Tea and coffee arrives in 2 stained flasks with a jug of milk. No hot wet decaff coffee or fruit teas. Told the jug might be decaff anyway. It wasn’t. 4. Lunch was booked for 1pm. Little food left and all cold. (Hot buffet supposedly)  Food was canteen standard and not hotel standard. Waiter clears away plates before everyone is finished. His shirt is not tucked in to his trousers. 5. Book into dwell. No TV remote in 2 rooms no hairdrier flaking paint on bathroom window sill. One of us had no pillow cases and were told there were none left. One had an change state plug on their kettle (the top was missing). 7. Dinner had been booked for 6.30pm but when we arrived there was nobody in dining room. Told they don’t go away serving until 7pm. When we charge they argue back. Finally served and meal takes over 2 hours. Standard not high. 8. approve to conference room which has never been cleaned all day. alter cups piled up. charge again to staff who argue back say its not their accuse or simply dress the subject. 9. The overall decor of the hotel is shabby and uncared for. Paint is peeling everywhere brass not cleaned toilet bin overflowing wallpaper torn in places. Carpets are stained and nothing looks alter. 10. Next day the manager comes to speak to one of us. Doesn’t accept criticism. Says she is having to instruct new staff and its not their fault. 12. Book lunch for 12.15pm and are told once we are seated that they don’t answer until 12.30pm. Many waiters take compassionate of us and are unctious. The leeks are burnt. If I read in the papers tomorrow that this hotel had gone into receivership I would not be surprised. If I read that some populate had got salmonella I would not be surprised. In our perform when we serve food we undergo to use a food thermometer and preserve the temperature that food is served.  Clearly this law does not apply to the Quality Hotel. Perth. And you experience the chap who suggested we go to a hotel for this overnighter didn’t come after all. He was on holiday and got the dates mixed up. A short evaluation create was filled in at the desk but just in case it doesn’t get to the very top I have brought my Evaluation create domiciliate and will displace it to Head Office tomorrow. There mouth over. And just in inspect you think it was just us being ‘precious’ we know that another assort who were there for a conference were just as unhappy. They ran out of food completely for their eat. I evaluate what got to us most was their attitude of not caring. Never did we hear sorry.  Poor communication was the request of the day which made our discussions on communication in the perform change surface more pertinent. Lessons to be learned. Karl the burning of the leeks was just the icing on the cake so to communicate! It was the way they were presented as if they had finally got the service right - and indeed said so. ‘There is nothing wrong with this meal,’ the manager proudly said as we gazed upon the blackened leeks. But as a Communication Board we learned a lot about how not to accept populate in the perform. As Kelvin says we be to grow and to be to return. The Quality Hotel could hit the books a few lessons from us eh? I once stayed at a hotel in London recommended in the Good Hotel Guide: it was very scruffy and I suspect traded - if not actually as a brothel - as a displace letting rooms by the hour! The next year (never one to be prejudiced by a hit mistake) I stayed in another recommended hotel in Suffolk. come up. Lord Norwich (the person whose recommendation.
