"which has more caffeine coffee or espresso?" posted by ~Ray

i like cuban espresso coffee but i have heard that it has more than double the caffeine of regular coffee because the beans they use are different. McDannel: Espresso is coffee. but there are different beans used for each. my question is which bean contains more caffeine. The average single shot of espresso (made with arabica) contains between 45 and 70 mg of caffeine. A 12 ounce cup of instant coffee can have as much as 350mg of caffeine. However since espresso doesn't refer to a type of coffee but rather the brewing method used to make it how much caffeine in it will depend upon the beans used. Robusta coffee beans contain 40-50% more caffeine than arabica coffee beans. In Italy many espresso blends are based on dark-roasted robusta. Loaded with caffine! (one coffee shop down here makes one for five bucks called an 'Insomniac'.)References : Espresso does have more caffeine than coffee that's why it's served in a shot size unlike regular coffee in a cup size. References : Drip coffee uses a lot more coffee per cup than espresso and also the cheaper coffee beans have a higher caffeine content that arabica beans. Water is also in contact with the coffee for much longer giving higher caffeine extraction. All of which means that a cup of drip coffee can have up to 10 times the caffeine of an espresso. References : They are about the same. Espresso is just a concentrated form of coffee beans. Thats why its served in a shot. So one cup of coffee is about the equivalent of one shot of espresso. listen to mcdannel!!!References : worked at a coffee shop I know that coffee starts at 85 mg per serving and goes up from there. I am not familiar with all of the other hoaky coffee concoctions out there. I have always wondered since so many people love their coffee and they have coffee flavored alcohol and ice cream and yogurt why don't they like the idea of coffee flavored jello?References : Currently you have JavaScript disabled. "Does ground coffee or whole beans last longer?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 11:21:48

I was wondering which lasts nger and stays fresh longer coffee that you buy ground or whole coffee beans that you bpurchase and grind when you need them. I'm aware that coffee beans that are whole should be kept in the refridgerator to retain freshness. Does anyone know? Whole beans v. Ground?Whole beans last longer than ground coffee. Storing and Grinding MethodsA coffee bean's two greatest enemies are air and moisture. Keeping this in mind the proper storage methods for coffee beans should be natural. Ideally coffee should be ground brewed and consumed quickly to obtain the best flavor. Coffee beans are at their peak within 24 to 72 hours after roasting and begin to quickly stale after that. Within a week most of the original flavor will have deteriorated. The grinding process speeds the staling by exposing more of the bean to air. We recommend grinding your beans as you need them and storing the whole beans in an airtight container. Place this container anywhere where it will remain cool and dry. For more long-term storage whole beans can be placed in air-tight bags and frozen. You will not need to defrost your beans just grind and go! The water that you use to brew your coffee should be cold and as free from impurities as possible. Water makes up 98-99% of coffee and any impurities in the water will be evident in the final cup. Your best bet is to buy the FoodSaver vacuum bag and canister device to keep moisture and air from deteriorating your coffee. Also it's better to buy smaller amounts of coffee rather than storing large containers as the best taste is shortly after roasting. Whole beans last longer than ground coffee. References : Definitely whole bean although ground will also stay fresh longer if kept refrigerated in an airtight container. I just prefer the taste of whole bean coffee. I only drink espresso so I grind just what I need for that one cup brew it and immediately add it to my steamed milk/soymilk/eggnog/whatever. Air "kills" coffee so the quicker you get it mixed in with your drink the less bitter it tastes. Learned that from a barista and it seems to be true from my experience. As an old manager of Cafes I can assure you that if you are looking for longevity; look to the coffee bean. You may have heard a tale: that a bag of beans bought should be stored in the freezer. WRONG!! If you store coffee beans in the freezer - even if they are vacuum locked - will cause the bean to break down. Ideally if you prefer coffee beans buy yourself a grinder. Yo do NOT need to buy some $150/$200 job unless you prefer. You can pick - up agood coffee grinder at a department store for $25 to $30.00 that will last you forever. I have certain "brands of coffee that I prefer if I am buying a regular grind now in this case: YES you may keep your coffee- can and all in the freezer. It came to the store it was massively ground and most probably there will be a preservative naturally or otherwise added. They too break down and putting pre-ground coffee into the freezer does stop the deterioration of the blend; where as; fresh grind should realistically be done each and every day but nobody has time in this life any more. Too bad too. So you should grind no more than 3 or four pots of coffee; nomore at a time! Keep the coffee in a sealed container a sealed Tupperware type canister is OK. Even a canister set my wife has an oak set is fine as long as there is a tight seal to its top. Ifnot you defeat the purpose of wanting the freshest coffee you can get. Back to the "regular coffee" You as I elluded to earlier may put the entire can in the freezer to add some longevity to the pre - ground that you prefer but if you want to keep it as fresh as possible; I would suggest using a freezer bag and sucking the air out of the bag as you seal it. The cheap mans freezer vacuum. You will note a big differance w/ that little trick as well. I hope I helped -Enjoying your coffee is a must! the: "Nite" OwlReferences : 30 plus years in Food & BeverageManager - Mr. G's Fiesta Hotel CasinoManager - Baja Beach Cafe Fiesta Hotel and CasinoManager - Jitters Gormet CoffeeLife Experiances

I'm stealing internet at Coffee Bean alter now. I had this whole plan to do the right thing and get a subscription to T-Mobile or AT&T so that I would consistently undergo a good internet connection but I just realized I don't undergo to pay at the Coffee Bean that's walking distance from my house. Not because they undergo free Wi-Fi-- you're actually supposed to pay to get online here-- but I'm stealing from a business upstairs that doesn't undergo a password on their network. A great broach of paranoia set in as I finished typing that measure sentence. measure night I went to this bar in Santa Monica for a BC get together. It was a clump of people from Ed's class and other random friends that have congregated in Los Angeles for some reason or another. There was a really cute boy who made promises of taking me to eat French Toast. I don't experience why but I really desire that he specified French Toast. Probably because it's more complex than pancakes but it's still of the same genre of eat foods I am most drawn to. Had he said Eggs Florentine it still would have been cute but there's something kind of complicated about that kind of breakfast-- I'm glad that it wasn't the first thing on his mind. Is it becoming more and more alter why I'm hit? This is what I did when I came home measure night with a inspect of the drunken crazies. come up it's actually the second or third thing I did. The first thing I did was eat half of a roast beef devise I had sitting in my fridge. Then I smoked a cigarette while staring at myself in the bathroom mirror. I took the pictures alter after that. Adding this item will make it viewable to everyone who has access to the group. Adding this affix and any items in it ordain alter it viewable to everyone who has find to the group.

"Coffee Bean Storage - To freeze beans or not to freeze beans?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-02 07:30:23

There are many theories about the best way to hold on coffee beans or ground coffee to bear freshness. One of the theories is to put your beans or ground coffee in the freezer for later use. Is this method the best way to store coffee? Lets explore the idea. Freezing seems desire a universally accepted way to act foods fresher longer. Freezing is a great way to store many of our everyday foods. Vegetables fruits meat bread and even cover can be given a life extension through freezing. In fact freezing often retains many of the important vitamins and minerals in foods. Unfortunately coffee may not share the same benefits from freezing. Coffee has four main enemies against freshness: air heat lighten and moisture. At first freezing doesnt be to contain many of the offending enemies. However appearances can be deceiving. Roasting of the beans gives coffee much of its flavor. The roasted beans are porous. Unfortunately the beans can sorb other unwanted flavors besides the coffee flavor you want. Freezers often include many odors you might not be in your coffee. Some flavors might be nice but no one wants to consume onion or seafood flavored coffee. Moisture can also be absorbed by the coffee beans. Moisture can create deterioration and loss of flavor. The more often you act coffee out of the freezer and put it back in the more moisture absorption takes displace into the bean. If you absolutely need to freeze some coffee because you have a large excess youd like to keep only freeze it once. The more you take it in and out of the freezer the more alter you do. Freezing also breaks down the oils in the beans. The oils alter to the flavor of the coffee. Breaking down the oils means taking away flavor and lets approach it a large move of a good cup of coffee is the flavor. Ultimately freezing coffee is probably not the best idea. act coffee stored in a cool dry airtight container away from lighten. Freezing coffee is possible and may be alright if you only freeze it once. The resulting loss of flavor and quality might not make it worth it to you. Your best bet is to buy only enough coffee that you and your family can eat within 1-2 weeks. Enjoy it at the arrive at of its flavor!

"4-star review of: Capitalism II" posted by ~Ray

Deeper than a submarine reading Kafka Whereas most "tycoon" write games either focus on building a RTS style set of buildings or establishing some sort of trade despatch desire in Railroad Tycon or Tradewinds you'll find none of that here. You either start one of the preset scenarios or a sandbox game where you alter a quick analyse to see what resources are available build a factory or two maybe a farm and a store tailored to whatever you plan on making and that's it as far as building goes for quite some (ingame)time. From there on the game begins. Juggling prices of resources and finished products establishing your mark(s) trough PR securing your have majority while making attempt to command your competitors secretly researching that little tech boost that will set your laptops mouthwash leather wallet or whatever your empire is taking over the world with ahead of their competitors both international and local. It is as fun as it sounds. That means if you like coffee end games and The Sun on the toilet you probably wont like this game. On the other hand if you played and thought "what if I focused my advertising on a more effective media platform or maybe changed the bean supplier to in-house" and read the ecconomist or likewise pretencious brainfodder on toilet your game is finally here (well strictly speaking it's been around for years but finally released on a more mainstream publisher). There are quirks in the bet. The music is the sort of thing I imagine they play as muzak in brainwashing cults waiting rooms. The animations were built for a lower spec system than your average PC today meaning things on the map like ferris wheels and whatnot might move slightly faster than any speed Einstein might have thought up. And just the overlap work of merging a competitor into your company might make you choose a more moderate strategy on the stock market. But if you want a game with substance and dont mind a few lost hours of your life (or weeks) then voila.
